The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) decided to cancel all sporting events until December of 2020 in compliance with the Inter-Agency Task Force directives.

After PSC’s online meeting, Chairman Butch Ramirez then confirmed that all sporting activities will be suspended until December 2020, including the ASEAN Paragames.

Alongside Chairman Ramirez during the online meeting were Executive Director Merly Ibay, Deputy Executive Directors Dennis Rivera and Atty. Guillermo Iroy, Chief of Staff Marc Velasco, and commissioners Celine Kiriam, Ramon Fernandez, Arnold Agustin, and Charles Maxey.

One of the major factors that led to the decision was based on the directives of the Department of Budget Management which will remain inactive under the general community quarantine and will be lifted until a vaccine will be developed amid the pandemic.

However, PSC still aims to deliver its promised support to the members of the national team who continue to receive allowances amid the pandemic.

“We heed the call of the national government to cut expenses as we reroute the majority of our resources to fighting the pandemic, but we also stand by our commitment to keep supporting members of the national team,” explained Ramirez.
