The Philippine Superliga (PSL) is currently facing a tough situation after only three teams committed to remain and participate in the upcoming season.

F2 Logistics, Sta. Lucia, and Cherry Tigo were the only teams that signified their commitment to the league while others transferred to the now professional Premier Volleyball League (PVL). The lack of participants also forced PSL chairman Philip Ella Juico to halt their broadcast partnership with TV5 who transferred to the PVL as well.

“As we speak today, we are starting negotiations with GMA 7 as our new TV partner. So we’re starting afresh and we are negotiating with them to air the beach volleyball, which is February 26 and we are making adjustments for indoor volleyball,” said Juico.

Juico bared that they ended their six-year deal with TV5 and are now talking with GMA 7 to provide them with the best quality broadcast.

“Just yesterday we were told with very little notice, like what happened in the case of PLDT, that Cignal is joining the other league. We have no other sensible reason to stay in TV5. So we have to adjust to the reality of situation,” added Juico.

As of now, five teams have already left the PSL: PDLT, Cignal, Petron, Generika-Ayala, and Marinerang Pilipina.
