The Akari Chargers put up one of their most dominant performances in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference after crushing Galeries Tower, 25-14, 25-21, 25-19, last November 23, 2023, held at the Philsports Arena.
Akari picked up where they left off during their win against the Gerflor Defenders to nab their second straight win in six days.
Fifi Sharma was relentless for the Chargers and was named the Best Player of the Game after tallying 12 points built from 10 successful attacks.
Aside from her improving offense, the former De La Salle University (DLSU) middle blocker added two rejections in just three sets.
Sharma racked her points from the recovery of loose balls and spiked the leather that disrupted Galeries’ flow of defense.
The Chargers quickly pounced on the Tower in the opening set after limiting them to just 14 points in nearly 16 minutes of action.
Despite Galeries picking up their scoring midway through the second set, Akari’s firepower was just too much led by the duo of Faith Nisperos and Dindin Santiago-Manabat.
The duo responded to Galeries’ attack and went hot at the most perfect time for Akari to avoid any collapse.
Galeries kicked off the third and final set with the same tenacity in the last frame but Akari had another crucial scoring run in the last eight possessions to officially enter the winning column.
The Chargers will look to sustain its fine form against the against the Petro Gazz Angels on November 25, 2023, while Galeries will aim to snap their skid on November 28, 2023, against the Farm Fresh Foxies.
