Premier Volleyball League (PVL) President Ricky Palou said that despite ABS-CBN’s shutdown, they will still keep their commitment to keep the latter as their main broadcast partner once the season resumes.
With the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Emerging Infectious Diseases still reviewing the return of contact sports, the PVL is already mapping out the needed protocols that include which broadcast network they will partner with this upcoming season.
“There are other networks that come to us. I’d rather not say which networks, but they’re asking us if we want to play in their network. But we’re saying right now we can’t do that because we’re committed to ABS-CBN,” said Palou.
To recall, ABS-CBN was shut down due to the expiration of its franchise issued by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).
Although ABS-CBN went off-air, its online platforms are still under full operation which is also available for streaming on their Youtube and Facebook channels.
However, president Palou said that if ABS-CBN will withdraw from their partnership, they are open to finding other networks that can air their games.
Well, we have an agreement with ABS-CBN, and until we hear from them that they can’t cover us, we will keep our commitment to them. We are in constant communication and they’re telling us what’s happening to them, and all the things that they’ve been going through. But they seem to be confident that they’ll be able to get their franchise back. Let’s see what happens,” added Palou.
