A differently-abled young man was arrested in a police anti-narcotics operation on the evening of Nov. 12 in Molo, Iloilo City.
The suspect, identified as “Joshua,” 22, was apprehended at his home in Zone 18, Barangay San Juan, Molo.
Members of the Iloilo City Drug Enforcement Unit (ICPO-CDEU), together with operatives from Iloilo City Police Station 4, arrested Joshua after he allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu for PHP 6,000.
Officers recovered four additional plastic sachets and a knot-tied plastic pack containing suspected shabu, along with several non-drug items.
Captain Ryan Christ Inot, CDEU team leader, said the seized drugs weighed approximately 53 grams, with an estimated street value of PHP 360,400.
Inot noted that Joshua has a leg deformity but is still able to walk.
Joshua, who is not in school and unemployed, was recently monitored engaging in illegal drug sales, primarily serving clients from Barangay San Juan and nearby areas.
He has no prior arrests.
Inot added that authorities are still investigating the source of Joshua’s drug supply.
The suspect is now detained and will be charged with violating Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
