BACOLOD City – The New People’s Army (NPA) claimed another killing in Negros Oriental that victimized an alleged military asset in Canlaon City last Sunday.

In a statement released on Monday, April 17, the Leonardo Panaligan Command (LPC)-NPA Central Negros Guerrilla Front, owned up to the killing of 50-year-old George Javier at Sitio Guibawan, Barangay Bucalan.

Ka JB Regalado, spokesperson of LPC-NPA, said that Javier was a legitimate military target of the group, considering that he was a confidential agent of the Army based on the identification card recovered from him.

Regalado said the victim was a member of the Barangay Intelligence Network (BIN) in the area and regularly reports to the Canlaon police force and the Army detachment in the said barangay.

Based on a police report, the victim was shot by four unidentified armed persons.

The rebel group also claimed the death of 33-year-old Armando Babor in Barangay Mani-ak, Guihulngan City on April 11.

On April 9, the LPC-NPA also owned up to the killing of 63-year-old Danilo Bedaja in Barangay Macagahay, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental.

Three more killings perpetrated by NPA rebels were also reported in Moises Padilla town this year.
