Region 6 confirms 87 new COVID-19 cases

The Department of Health-Western Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH-WV CHD) reported 87 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the region.

Based on its latest case bulletin on Aug 26, 2020, the total number of confirmed cases in Western Visayas has increased to 3,738.

The latest batch of confirmed cases included 82 local cases while the remaining 5 are Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROF).

Bacolod City has the most number of new cases with 45, followed by Negros Occidental province with 26, Iloilo City with 8, Iloilo province with 6, and Capiz province with 2 cases.

As regard to symptoms, 69 of the new cases are asymptomatic, while 12 have Influenza-Like Illness (ILI), and 6 have Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI).

The total number of active cases according to the DOH data is 1,980.

Also, 150 new recoveries were also reported, increasing the total number of survivors to 1,703.

Bacolod City also has the most number of recoveries in this latest batch with 133, followed by Iloilo province with 11, and Iloilo City with 3, while Antique, Guimaras, and Negros Occidental have 1 new recovery each.

The COVID-19 death toll in the region remains at 55, with no new deaths reported.

A total of 1,225 test results were released by the DOH-WV CHD on August 26, from six Accredited Sub-National and Molecular Laboratories in Iloilo City and Bacolod City.
