The Department of Health-Western Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH-WV CHD) reported 158 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in its latest case bulletin on Sept 1, 2020.
This brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the region to 4,842 cases, 2,365 of which are active cases.
Local transmissions still comprise the biggest chunk of new COVID-19 cases, with 130 new cases, followed by Locally-Stranded Individuals (LSI) with 22 new cases, Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROF) with 5 cases, and Authorized Persons Outside of Residence (APOR) with 1 new case.
Iloilo City had the most number of new cases with 66, followed by Negros Occidental province with 41 new cases, Bacolod City with 30, Iloilo province with 15, Capiz province with 5, and Antique province with 1 new case.
The DOH-WV CHD also reported 92 new COVID-19 recoveries as of Sept 1, 2020, bringing the regional tally to 2,399 recoveries.
Bacolod City tops the list of latest recoveries with 77 cases, followed by Iloilo province with 12, Antique province with 2, and Aklan province with 1 case.
Two new deaths were also reported as of Sept 1, according to the DOH-WV CHD, pushing the total COVID-19 fatalities in the region to 78.
A total of 1,063 laboratory test results via Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) were released on Sept 1, from seven accredited laboratories in Iloilo City, Bacolod City, and Negros Occidental province.
