Region 6 records almost 2,000 COVID recoveries in two days

Close to 2,000 patients beat COVID-19 from July 13-14, 2021, based on data from the Department of Health in Western Visayas (DOH-6).

From July 13 to July 14, Region 6 recorded 1,853 additional recoveries bringing the regional total to 62,314 reported recoveries.

On Wednesday, Region 6 logged 752 new recoveries.

The region also recorded an all-time high number of recoveries on Tuesday at 1,101.

Out of the more than 1,000 recoveries, Negros Occidental logged 436 new recoveries followed by Iloilo province (294), Aklan (167), Capiz (37), Guimaras (3), Bacolod City (65), Antique (40), and Iloilo City (59).

The spike in the number of recoveries led to a significant decrease in the number of active cases in the region.

As of Wednesday, the total active cases in the region totaled 10,695 after 616 confirmed cases were logged.

Iloilo province recorded the most number of active cases at 2,938 followed by Aklan (1,783), Negros Occidental (1,793), Iloilo City (1,650), and Bacolod City (1,373).

All the remaining areas in the region recorded three-digit active cases.

Meanwhile, COVID-19 deaths totaled 1,738.

Based on the latest recommendation of the National Inter-Agency Task Force, Iloilo City and Iloilo province will be placed on enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) from July 16 to July 30, 2021.

The local government units (LGUs) were given until 5 p.m. on Wednesday to appeal the proposed quarantine status. (ERS)
