Iloilo City Lone district Rep. of Iloilo City Cong. Julienne “Jamjam” Baronda subjected herself to home quarantine following her exposure to other public officials who had contact with a positive case of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

“Being a responsible leader and mother, I am subjecting myself to home quarantine even if I do not have any symptoms of Covid-19 as a standard precautionary measure advised by health authorities,” Baronda said in a statement issued on Thursday

According to Baronda, she attended a meeting with Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Wendel on March 9 to follow up on some projects for Iloilo City.

The following day, she facilitated the interface of House legislators with Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade as Vice Chairperson of the House Committee on Transportation.

“The almost day-long meeting exposed me to the good secretary and his team. Both Sec. Avisado and Sec Tugade are on self-quarantine now as a precautionary measure after having been exposed to an activity where a person in attendance was later found to be Covid-19 positive,” she said.

Meanwhile, Baronda urged the public to be informed and observe health protocols amid the coronavirus outbreak.

“I urge the public to also take care of their health by religiously taking multivitamins, doing exercise and by observing sanitary protocols, because indeed prevention is cure,” she said.
