Iloilo fourth district Rep. Braeden John Biron assured help from the national government for his constituents.
In a statement, Biron said his office is facilitating the release of P3 million from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and P2 million from DSWD as financial assistance to the seven municipalities and the city of Passi.
“On top of this, we are also facilitating the release of P4.5 million (part of our 2020 district allocation) also from DSWD. We hope to download these funds to our Local Government Units as soon as possible even as we enjoin everyone to help fight COVID-19,” he said.
Last week, two villages in Barotac Nuevo, the hometown of Rep. Biron, was placed under heightened community quarantine for three days starting March 28, 2020 to further protect the town against the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Barotac Nuevo Mayor Bryant Paul Biron, brother of Rep. Biron, made the decision through Executive Order No. 34 he issued on March 27.
The two barangays, the center of the town’s activities, was under quarantine due to a confirmed COVID-19 case reported on Friday.
Last Friday, the Department of Health-Center for Health Development in Western Visayas (DOH-CHD 6) confirmed two more Covid-19-positive patients in Iloilo province.
In a statement, Mayor Biron said they have received confirmation through the municipal health officer that one of the COVID-19-patients is from Barotac Nuevo.
“We assure the public especially the people of Barotac Nuevo that this case is being handled in accordance with the established medical protocol and we hope for your full cooperation so that we can prevent the further spread of Covid-19,” he said. (With a report from PNA)
