BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson directed the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) to ask resort owners to close their establishments from June 23 to 25.
Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, Provincial Administrator, said the governor met with NOCPPO director Police Colonel Romy Palgue and discussed the upcoming St. John the Baptist feast day on June 24.
Diaz said Lacson ordered Palgue to conduct information dissemination to resort owners so that they can avoid accepting any advanced bookings from tourists.
The 303rd Infantry Brigade of the Philippine Army was also given the same order.
On the closure days of the resorts, NOCPPO was tasked to return to the establishments and monitor them for compliance.
“As early as now, we remind resort owners that they’ll be visited by police soon, reminding them that they have to be closed on those days,” Diaz said.
Lacson is set to issue an executive order any time this week ordering a three-day closure of all resorts in Negros Occidental following an agreement with the province’s mayors last Friday, Diaz said.
The closure is aimed at preventing mass gatherings in beaches and mountain resorts in Negros Occidental that could lead to a spike in cases.
