BACOLOD CITY – Murder charges were filed on Tuesday, April 18, against a retired soldier who allegedly shot to death an ambulance driver in Barangay Magticol, Toboso, Negros Occidental last Monday.

Police Captain Rene Boy Eduardo, deputy chief of Toboso Municipal Police Station, said the criminal complaint was filed against Ivan Paltuob, 46, of Calatrava town.

Paltuob surrendered to the police on Monday night several hours after the shooting incident that claimed the life of Ronnie Villasis.

Eduardo said that Villasis just pacified Paltuob and a barangay councilman who were arguing during the barangay fiesta when the suspect allegedly shot him.

Villasis suffered four gunshot wounds and was declared dead in a hospital, according to Eduardo.

Eduardo said the suspect failed to surrender the firearm used in the incident.
