Rider caught with shabu at checkpoint

A rider was arrested after he was caught with suspected illegal drugs while at a Commission on Elections (COMELEC) checkpoint evening of Oct. 4 at Sara, Iloilo.

Major Aldren Lanera, Sara police chief, said they were conducting their usual checkpoint operation at Barangay Pasig when the suspect, alias Boy, passed by.

Just like other riders, he was asked for the documents of his motorcycle.

But as he was rummaging through his things, a sachet of suspected shabu fell off.

This prompted Boy to run away, but police chased and arrested him shortly.

Lamera said the suspect is a “newly-identified drug personality.”

He allegedly sourced his supply from the nearby San Dionisio town.

Meanwhile, Boy allegedly admitted to using illegal drugs but denied peddling shabu.

Boy is now detained and will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
