A 54-year-old motorcycle rider was killed in a road crash morning of April 29 in Hamtic, Antique.

Vicente Perfas, a resident of Barangay Asluman, Hamtic, did not survive after suffering multiple injuries on his body and head.

The incident happened around 10 a.m. Saturday as Perfas was navigating through Barangay Guintas.

A Toyota Hi-Lux Conquest pick-up that was running in the opposite direction collided with Perfas’ motorcycle.

The pick-up driver, Glen Ford Billones, 36, a call center agent from Poblacion, Tibiao, Antique, dozed off while behind the wheels.

He allegedly encroached Perfas’ lane, bumped into the motorcycle, overshot the road, and landed on a creek some 8 meters deep.

Perfas was thrown off his motorcycle due to the impact.

Staff Sergeant Rymer Mabaquiao, Hamtic traffic police investigator, said the victim was wearing a helmet during the incident, but it did not endure the impact.

Billones and his girlfriend, his lone companion, were uninjured despite their vehicle going down the creek.

They were both wearing seat belts and the airbags deployed.

It was gathered that there are already settlement talks between the parties.

Perfas’ family wanted burial aid and educational assistance for his children.

This is on top of the financial assistance they would be getting.
