BACOLOD City – Murder charges are being readied against a businessman who allegedly killed a security guard in a “road rage” incident at Villena Street, Barangay Zone 2, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental last Thursday.
The victim was identified as Arnold Belocura, 57, of the said village.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Gil John Despi, Cadiz City police chief, said Belocura was riding his bike home when he was allegedly hit by a sports utility vehicle (SUV) driven by suspect Mark Besa, 40, also of the said barangay.
Despi said that Belocura reportedly confronted Besa about it, causing a heated argument between them that led to the shooting incident.
Besa was reportedly drunk when he figured in an altercation with Belocura.
“Nasangit daw sang suspect ang bike ka victim, amo to nga may heated argument sila, pero wala idea ang suspect,” Despi said.
Despi said that the suspect even got irked when the victim allegedly cursed at him.
Besa allegedly shot Belocura in his right armpit. He was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.
The suspect was later arrested in a pursuit operation in Barangay 1-A, Manapla town after his car was spotted there.
Despi said that it took a while for Besa to get out of his car. He even waited for his family to arrive before he got out of his vehicle.
Police recovered from Besa a .45 caliber pistol, magazine, four live ammunition, and an empty shell.
Despi said they could not properly talk to the suspect at that time, as he was probably still in shock about the incident.
“Indi pa siya mastorya maayo subong,” he added.
But based on the closed circuit television (CCTV) camera, the victim and the suspect indeed had an argument prior to the shooting.
