BACOLOD City – Former Negros Occidental Governor Lito Coscolluela, lead campaigner of Vice President Leni Robredo in the province, asked the Commission on Elections (Comelec) here to investigate the alleged threats and intimidation against Robredo’s supporters in Pulupandan town.
Coscolluela also appealed to Pulupandan Mayor Miguel Pena and other mayors in the province to refrain from employing dirty tricks in campaigning for their candidates.
He said supporters of Robredo are being warned against gathering and threatened with dislocation if they support the lady vice president.
“We are not trying to make conclusions but we are asking the Comelec to investigate.” he said.
Coscolluela said that volunteers complained as well of the “tumba- tumba” (where exit and entry to certain areas are barred).
We have problems from five localities- Pulupandan, Ilog, Bago City, La Carlota City and Pulupandan, he added.
He said these are cases of threats and intimidation against Robredo’s volunteers.
Coscolluela said that while they can file charges, the victims fear possible retaliation.
