Former Vice President Leni Robredo visited the Iloilo City Hall today, March 5, to learn from the city’s best practices in governance and urban development.

Robredo, who is running for mayor of Naga City, was accompanied by incumbent councilors and department heads from the Naga City government.

Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas highlighted the visit as a testament to the city’s progress and its role as a model for other local governments.

“There was a time when we looked to other cities for inspiration. Today, Iloilo City stands as a model for others,” Treñas said.

“Their visit aims to learn from our best practices and apply them to their own city. This exchange reflects our city’s progress and the power of collaboration in good governance,” he added.

The visit marks another significant engagement between Robredo and Iloilo City. In July 2022, she visited the City Hall and pledged continued support through her Angat Buhay Foundation, emphasizing her commitment to assisting Ilonggos during times of need.

Treñas was a vocal supporter of Robredo during her 2022 presidential campaign. She won the presidential race in Iloilo City, securing 149,256 votes compared to now-President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., who garnered 85,117 votes.

Meanwhile, senatorial candidates Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV and Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan announced on their official Facebook pages that they plan to visit Iloilo on March 6.

Details of their visit remain undisclosed, and it is unconfirmed whether Robredo, who has endorsed both Aquino and Pangilinan’s senatorial bids, will join them.
