Roel Castro has been elected president of the Iloilo Economic Development (ILED) Foundation for the 2024-2026 term, underscoring the organization’s commitment to driving economic growth in Iloilo City and the province.
The election took place on October 14, 2024, during ILED’s annual general assembly at Citadines Hotel. Castro succeeds outgoing president Angel de Leon.
As the new president, Castro said he plans to consult ILED trustees and various sectors to identify the organization’s priorities.
He emphasized the importance of equipping sectors with knowledge and skills essential for economic development.
“This will involve organizing training programs and seminars led by renowned national and international experts across diverse fields,” Castro said.
Castro has served as a member of ILED’s Board of Trustees since 2018 and has actively contributed to Iloilo’s economic progress.
Aside from his new role at ILED, Castro is the president and CEO of MORE Electric and Power Corporation, Iloilo City’s sole electricity distributor, which is set to expand services to Iloilo province’s Districts 2 and 4.
Castro also serves as a director of the Iloilo Festivals Foundation, Inc. and the UP Visayas Foundation, Inc., reflecting his commitment to community development and education.
With more than 30 years of experience in strategic management, project development, and corporate affairs, Castro is expected to bring fresh insights to ILED’s economic initiatives.
His career spans over 15 years in the power and energy sector, focusing on renewable energy and business development.
