A living legend will be making a highly-anticipated coaching return to the professional scene of Philippine volleyball.

Welcome back to the Premier Volleyball League (PVL), coach Roger Gorayeb!

After taking a break for three years from coaching on the professional stage, Gorayeb is back in the limelight confirmed last January 22, 2024.

According to multiple reports, Gorayab will be mentoring the newest franchise that joined the PVL, the Capital1 Solar Energy team.

Capital1 will replace the now-defunct F2 Logistics Cargo Movers after deciding to disband several months ago to focus on their grassroots volleyball programs.

Despite the long absence, Gorayeb isn’t a stranger in the professional ranks after leading his previous squad, the BaliPure Purest Water Defenders, to the PVL championship stage last 2017 season.

After his contract expired, Gorayeb called the shots for the PLDT Home Fibr Power Hitters last 2021 before accepting the job as the head coach of the San Sebastian Lady Stags competing in the NCAA.

As of now. Solar Energy is yet to find its core players and reportedly conducted its first day of tryouts yesterday which will end today.

Gorayeb will look to replicate his greatness in the NCAA after leading San Sebastian to 11 consecutive championship titles from 1986 to 1997.

After leaving San Sebastian, Gorayeb turned his focus to the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) Lady Eagles where he would find the great Alyssa Valdez during her rookie year.

Gorayeb was then dubbed as the godfather of the Ateneo program after recruiting Valdez who would lead the school to multiple UAAP championships during her era.
