The waxing hot Chery Tiggo Crossovers extended its mastery in the ongoing Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference after blanking the Akari Chargers, 25-17, 25-20, 25-17, on April 20, 2024, at the Santa Rosa Sports Complex.
With another sweeping victory, Chery Tiggo just stretched its PVL winning streak to six straight games and forced a four-way tie with Creamline Cool Smashers, Choco Mucho Flying Titans, and the Petro Gazz Angels for the top spot.
It was another flawless volleyball display for the Crossovers as they picked up where they left off and just steamrolled over the Chargers in the three-set encounter.
PVL Player of the Week awardee Eya Laure once again spearheaded the Chery Tiggo attack after tallying 14 points built from nine successful attacks.
Aside from her signature scoring ability, the former UST superstar also helped in the other departments, nabbing three blocks and two service aces.
Backstopping Laure was the ever-reliable veteran outside hitter Ara Galang who chopped in nine points derived from seven successful attacks.
It was Galang who sparked the early Chery Tiggo assault in the opening set after scoring three straight markers to steer the Crossovers to an early advantage.
After the Galang scoring spree, Laure took over and stabilized the Crossovers with a barrage of cross-court hits.
In the last two sets, Chery Tiggo’s balanced attack torched Akari while also holding them to a limited number of quick 1-2 sets.
“Malaking bagay ang panalo namin ngayon kasi target namin bound to semis. Pero ito, meron pa kami isang game at malaking turning point to para sa amin kasi ‘yung Akari anytime pwede bumalik,” said Crossovers head coach Kungfu Reyes.
