BACOLOD CITY – The rooster-shaped building at Campuestohan Highland Resort in Talisay, Negros Occidental has entered the Guinness World Records.

The structure, built by businessman Ricardo “Cano” Tan, was declared by Guinness World Records as the “largest building in the shape of a chicken,” standing 114 feet and seven inches tall.

The building, which serves as a hotel facility within the resort, will be inaugurated on Saturday, October 19.

Tan said he designed the hotel in the shape of a rooster to recognize the contribution of the fighting cock or game fowl breeding industry in the province.

He added that the industry has provided livelihood to thousands of people when the province was hit by the sugar crisis.

Tan said the fighting cock industry is the second-largest industry in the province, next to sugar.

The structure, which has 15 rooms, was completed in approximately 456 days.

Campuestohan Highland Resort began operations in 2012 and has since become a popular destination for both visitors and locals in the province.
