ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The Roxas City Hall of Justice is temporarily closed from Sept 18 to 21, 2020 for disinfection after one of its employees tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Based on the Office Memorandum Order No. 12-2020 issued by Executive Judge Ignacio Alajar, disinfection should be done to ensure the safety of everyone, particularly the employees and their families.

Alajar reminded that all transaction at the HOJ shall be cancelled and will return to normal on Sept 22.

Earlier, the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP)-Capiz Chapter asked the Supreme Court (SC) for a 14-day timeout for the workers and employees of the Hall of Justice and other Municipal Circuits Trial Court (MCTC) in the province.

According to IBP-Capiz Chapter President Remia Fuentes-Bartolome, the group forwarded Resolution No. 23, series of 2020 to the Office of the Court Administrator through the Executive Judges in the 1st and 2nd districts of Capiz.

Bartolome said the purpose of the request is to protect the judges, court employees, lawyers, clients, and the community against the local transmission of the coronavirus disease.

The IBP resolution is also in support of the call of the Capiz Medical Society and medical frontliners for a 14-day timeout on the movement of the public.

A former Sanggunian Panlalawigan member, Bartolome said that while several court transactions will be affected, the most important thing for them is the health of the court employees and their families.
