ROXAS City, Capiz – The Roxas City government led by Mayor Ronnie Dadivas launched on June 14, 2023 a multiplatform helpline for persons facing various mental health concerns.
Dubbed as KaEstorya Multiplatform Mental Health Support Line, the facility was in response to the rise in mental health issues not only in Roxas City but in the entire province of Capiz.
Kaestorya is an Hiligaynon term for chatmate or confidant.
Dadivas said the most concerning aspect of the problem is that those involved were persons between 15 and 29 years old.
“We want to solve this problem through KaEstorya which is an emergency helpline that will respond to reports, calls, text and even chats from those seeking help for their mental health problems and from victims of abuse. This will also serve as a suicide prevention helpline for persons with problems but have no one to talk to,” Dadivas said.
KaEstorya is also a referral network for other government and non-government agencies that caters to mental health concerns.
This program is a collaboration of the Roxas City Government, Sangguniang Panlungsod pinaagi through former City Councilor Trina Ignacio who authored the ordinance that institutionalized the KaEstorya Multiplatform.
The collaboration also includes the City Social Welfare and Development, City Health Office, Kaestorya Program Champion Maria Teresa Muñoz, the academe, PNP, Bureau of Fire Protection and the private sector such as the JCI Makawiwili and the media; partners from the barangays, Barangay Health Workers, and Child Development Workers who are helping in the mental health support line and suicide prevention.
Dadivas said the helpline is open round the clock and all information will be treated with utmost confidentiality.

Ang aton Mental Health Practitioners kag mga eksperto handa sa pagpakig-Estorya sa inyo face to face, panawag, text ukon chat. Ginasiguro namon nga ang inyo ma-Estoryahan magapabilin nga CONFIDENTIAL,” he added.
