BACOLOD City – A leader of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army – Alex Bongcayao Brigade (RPA-ABB) was gunned down by four unidentified motorcycle-riding assailants at Barangay Efigenio Lizares, Talisay City, Negros Occidental Friday morning.
Killed was Jicky Casipe, 44, of Barangay Dos Hermanas.
Police Major Jigger Gimeno, city police chief, said Casipe was riding his motorcycle when two motorcycles were tailing him from his house past 8 a.m.
Then the assailants fired their guns at him several times and fled.
Casipe died on the spot due to multiple gunshot wounds.
Police recovered from the scene three fired bullets of .45 caliber pistol.
Gimeno said police have yet to establish the motive of the killing but they are not discounting the possibility that it could be insurgency-related.
Gimeno said they are still probing if Casipe had previous enemies when he stopped his allegiance to the New People’s Army (NPA).
“We cannot yet confirm anything since he had no threats prior to the incident,” he added.
The police chief also said that the perpetrators behind the killing might be more than four persons because the assailants probably had back-up or look-out when they committed the crime.
He said they will try to look for a copy of a closed circuit television (CCTV) camera footage to help them in their investigation.
