“We’re about 75% ready for the first-ever ISUFST-hosted RSCUAA 2024,” announced Dr. Edmer Bernardo, overall secretariat chairperson, during the RSCUAA Progress Report Meeting on Friday, November 15, 2024, at the ISUFST Main Campus-Poblacion Site Techno Hub.
With the December 15 grand opening at Barotac Nuevo Tamasak Arena fast approaching, preparations are in full swing to ensure a seamless and memorable sports festival.
The meeting brought together more than 80 committee members alongside representatives from local government units, the alumni association, and the Department of Education.
Key discussions focused on finalizing event schedules, venues, participant eligibility, public relations strategies, billeting arrangements, logistical plans, and health and security measures.
The budget review included allocations for technical officials, meals, equipment rentals, medals, certificates, medical supplies, transportation, and accommodations.
Other priorities included planning programs for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Solidarity Night, and coordinating with dignitaries and sports personalities who will attend the event.
Promotional campaigns to boost public engagement and encourage broad participation were also discussed.
ISUFST President Dr. Nordy Siason underscored the significance of collaboration, saying, “This RSCUAA Sports Festival is more than just an ISUFST initiative. It is a shared endeavor with the local government units and the Department of Education, working together to create an event that celebrates the spirit of competition, unity, and regional pride.”
Dr. Bernardo emphasized the importance of teamwork and thorough preparation, stating, “Our goal extends beyond hosting a sports festival; we are building a platform that inspires excellence, camaraderie, and a sense of community across the region.”
The RSCUAA 2024 Sports Festival, scheduled for December 15-20, 2024, carries the theme “One Western Visayas: Promoting Peace, Inclusion, and Well-Being through Sports.”
The event will gather athletes and officials from state universities across Region VI, marking a historic milestone for ISUFST and the regional sports community.
