The RSG Philippines esports squad finally took hold of the prestigious Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) Philippines championship trophy after asserting their mastery over the star-studded Omega Esports team, 4-1, during the recently concluded Season 9 grand finals match.
For the first time in their storied esports franchise, RSG PH entered the MPL PH championship match and showed their sheer determination against the veteran Omega team.
RSG PH made sure that their quick-countering of Omega’s unique meta-strategy paid off as they decided to match their hero pool to what the opposition would pick.
During the first game, Eman “EMANN” Sangco’s well-farmed Brody carried RSG PH in drawing the first blood in the grand finals.
RSG PH did all the necessary plays to make space for EMANN’s Brody who got full-slotted in the late game.
After a disappointing Game 1 loss, Omega quickly responded with their own victory led by their superstar tank main Joshua “Ch4knu” Mangilog.
Ch4knu did several crucial clash saves for Omega and was responsible for turning things around in the eighth minute of the game when RSG looked to snowball in the gold department.
However, RSG PH would sweep all of the remaining grand finals matches and gave no chance for Omega to comeback and regain their composure.
One of the keys that RSG did in order for them to take cruise control of the remaining games was to contain Omega’s superstar gold laner Kelra.
Kelra, who loves to stay at the backline of Omega during team clashes, got countered several times when RSG decided to pick Yu Zhong.
Aside from their Yu Zhong card, RSG also matched Omega’s aggressive rotating lineup with their Chou and Cecilion picks.
With the MPL championship, RSG will receive a direct participation in the 2022 MSC Mobile Legends Southeast Asia Cup.
