Despite President Rodrigo Duterte’s stern admonition that she will not run, certain quarters continue to egg on presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte to run for president in the May 2022 national elections.

After a run in the provincial side, “Run Sara Run” banners have reached Iloilo City.

A concerned citizen took a photo of a tarpaulin poster urging Sara to run for president in 2022. The poster was prominently hung near Molo public plaza.

The poster showed a photo of Sara and the words “Sara DU30. My President 2022”.

The photo posted on the official Facebook account of Daily Guardian on Thursday received mixed reactions from the netizens.

One Ilonggo netizen noted that a “rekorida” or a van with speakers and the same tarpaulin supporting Sara Duterte was also seen near Molo plaza.

Similar banners were also seen in some towns in the 4th and 5th districts of Iloilo province.

Tarpaulins spotted in the town of Banate came in as a surprise for local officials.

Meanwhile, an art shop in Iloilo City confirmed that they printed over 200 “Run Sara Run” tarpaulins, based on a report of a local radio station.

The art shop said that the tarpaulins were printed upon request of a male customer from the fifth district of Iloilo province.

The “Run Sara Run” marathon can be seen all over the country with tarpaulin posters urging Sara Duterte to run for the May 2022 presidential elections hanged in different cities and provinces.

But in a recent interview, Sara Duterte maintained that she will not run for president in the 2022 elections.

Sa ngayon, no. There is no chance na magbago ang isip ko. Anong mga rason ko? I do not want to enumerate the reasons, hindi lang ito isa, marami, because hahaba ang usapan at baka maka-offend and may ma-hurt na mga tao,” the mayor said in a media interview on Wednesday, Feb. 24.

The lady mayor thanked those who continued to support her but reiterated that she will order the removal of tarpaulin streamers and posters urging her to run for president. (ERS)
