BACOLOD City – The city government of San Carlos in Negros Occidental will restore the checkpoints in its boundary with Vallehermoso and Canlaon City in Negros Oriental,Monday.
Mayor Renato Gustilo said border controls between San Carlos City and Vallehermoso in northern Negros were “relaxed” after a noted drop in the number of cases of coronavirus disease 2019 or Covid-19.
Boundary restrictions between Mabinay, Negros Oriental and Kabankalan City in Negros Occidental were also eased.
Gustilo said Vallehermoso residents will only be allowed to enter San Carlos if they have medical certificates showing they are not infected with Covid-19, while Canlaon City residents are required to present RT-PCR test results at the checkpoint.
Gustilo said San Carlos City had six active cases Sunday, from a high of 60 in the past several months.
Policemen, health personnel and barangay tanods will implement the border control in San Carlos, he added.
Earlier, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said that starting March 1, Mabinay residents will be allowed to enter Kabankalan City in private vehicles and may only stay for 12 hours.
If they go beyond 24 hours, Lacson said the Mabinay municipal government will quarantine its residents.
