San Jose youth supports measures to mitigate impact of pandemic

SAN JOSE, Antique – The Sangguniang Kabataan of San Jose de Buenavista has supported the measures implemented by the local government unit to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 pandemic.

Barangay Badiang SK Chairperson John Barreth Magbanua, representing the Sangguniang Kabataan of San Jose, said in an interview that the youth of the town has embarked on various activities to support the endeavors of the municipal government and national government agencies to lessen the impact of COVID-19 on the municipality.

The activities include delivery of food packs to the frontline workers and distribution of relief goods to the indigents

The SK members led by SK Federation President Jullian Therese Pacificador also prepared and distributed food packs to senior citizens who were not given social pension.

Other SK members also volunteered in the sorting and preparation of food packs sourced out from various donors initiated by Mayor Elmer Untaran and the association of LGBTQ organization in southern Antique.

Some SK officials out of personal resources also donated and distributed hygiene kits and basic needs to the Isolation Facility.

Some youth members joined the feeding program, coastal cleanup, giving of bond papers to elementary schools and school supplies to students, bloodletting donation in connection with the SK Linggo ng Kabataan.

For the “Balik Eskwela” Program, some Barangay SK members initiated the SK Free Learning HUB, Wifi Zone and Free Printing Program. (PIA)
