BACOLOD City – The establishment of satellite offices for board members in the six localities in the 5th district of Negros Occidental is being pushed to make government services accessible to the people.
Former Isabela Councilor Patrick Montilla said these satellite offices will also help those asking for assistance from provincial board members as they will no longer need to commute to the provincial capitol here where the board members hold offices.
“They will no longer spend money for their fares and more importantly exposing themselves to the virus is avoided,” Montilla said.
He said this could be done in partnership with the local chief executives who could allocate a small office for the purpose.
Montilla is among the five aspirants for the two seats in the Sanggunian Panlalawigan representing the 5th district.
The 5th district is composed of the towns of Isabela, La Castellana, Moises Padilla, Hinigaran, Binalbagan and Himamaylan City.
Montilla, a sugarcane farmer, is running against incumbent Provincial Board member Dra. Rita Gatuslao, businessman Anton Occeno, Engr. Rolito Espinosa, a director of the Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative; and Julian Gatuslao, a former president of the Sangguniang Kabataan.
