The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) recently talked to Gilas young stars Thirdy Ravena and Isaac Go who found themselves as the talk of the town after violating General Community Quarantine (GCQ) guidelines under contact sports.
Both Ravena and Go were filmed in a video playing a 5-on-5 pick-up game together with PBA’s Japeth Aguilar and Adrian Wong that clearly broke GCQ rules which states that contact-sports are still prohibited under the quarantine level.
While Aguilar and Wong each received a 20,000 pesos fine and a community service penalty from the PBA office, Ravena and Go received a different one.
The SBP confirmed that they have no plans in imposing fines for both players, they just need to have the proper guidance from the SBP management especially that these two are under their supervision as part of the 2023 Gilas pool.
“Definitely, napagsabihan na sila ni President Al Panlilio and sir Butch na itigil niyo na ‘yang pinaggagagawa niyong hindi ayon sa regulasyon at nakakahiya tayo,” said SBP Executive Director Sonny Barrios.
Ravena is scheduled to soon arrive in Japan and reinforce the San-en NeoPhoenix in the Japan B.League while Go is the number 1 overall pick in the 2019 PBA draft but is under loan by SBP in preparations for the FIBA qualifiers.
