One of the greatest PBA imports of all time is making a probable comeback in the Philippine basketball scene.

Sean Chambers, the Alaska Aces’ mighty import in the 1990’s who is a six-time champion and the 1996 PBA Governor’s Cup Best Import, expressed his desire to coach the University of Santo Tomas basketball squad.

“I have officially submitted my letter of intent for the UST head coaching job,” the legendary import confirmed.

When asked why he would accept such responsibility amid the ongoing issue with the Growling Tigers, Chambers explained that he would like to give back to one of his mentors, the late coach Aric del Rosario.

During his stint with the Aces where Tim Cone served as the chief tactician, del Rosario was the assistant and he shared how amazing it was how the deceased coach treated his players from the PBA to the UAAP.

“You got to come back to what they used to be about, a bunch of young men who support the university and play for the university in all battles, and just to reach out to the alumni to come back and be supportive of the program like it was in the 1990s when it was with coach Aric,” said Chambers.

Furthermore, Chambers bared that he was a frequent visitor to coach del Rosario’s training sessions with the Growling Tigers and learned a lot, especially the culture.

“Once you get the right guys in there, you’re gonna be able to empower them, start with discipline, and education has to be at the forefront for these players,” Chambers continued.
