Sean O’Malley successfully defended his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) bantamweight title after bagging a unanimous decision victory over Marlon Vera on March 10, 2024, at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida.

Making his comeback inside the UFC octagon after almost a year of hiatus since snatching away Aljamain Sterling’s bantamweight belt, O’Malley fought as if he never left and scored a clinical victory over his tough challenger.

Known for his on-point stand-up fight and precise counter-punching, O’Malley schooled Vera from the get-go while maintaining his desired fighting distance.

In retrospect, it was Vera who handed O’Malley his only loss in the UFC four years ago via a technical knockout stoppage through elbows and punches.

Seeking to redeem himself and bounce back, O’Malley showed no mercy on Vera and earned all the nods of the judges in the scorecards.

Vera tried to replicate his performance during their first fight when he recklessly moved forward midway through the second round.

During their first fight, Vera’s aggression set up his ground-and-pound win over O’Malley. However, the current bantamweight king displayed his high-level improvement and failed to bite in any of the opposition’s traps.

Vera had his moments in the later rounds of the fight after hitting O’Malley with several left-handed hooks in an attempt to salvage the fight.

However, Vera had little time left as O’Malley already dominated the fight including a one-sided performance in the first four rounds.

With another stellar win, O’Malley extended his undefeated UFC streak to six straight victories and is yet to lose a fight in three years.
