A security guard is now on the run after allegedly killing his wife’s chatmate on the night of December 19 in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo.

The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Tre-ar Sebugan of Sitio Ilawod, Barangay Poblacion, Barotac Viejo, was reportedly enraged upon discovering his wife was exchanging messages with another man.

The victim, Rodel Ambo, 36, of Sitio Sambag, Barangay Nueva Sevilla, Barotac Viejo, arrived at the suspect’s house on a motorcycle.

According to reports, Sebugan had earlier taken his wife’s mobile phone and used her Facebook account to converse with Ambo, luring him to the location.

When Ambo arrived, the suspect immediately shot him with a 12-gauge shotgun, hitting the right side of his head.

The victim was rushed to Gov. Niel D. Tupas Sr. District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Major Felix Alianza, chief of the Barotac Viejo police, said jealousy may have triggered the incident.

Authorities suspect that Sebugan premeditated the attack, as he brought his service firearm directly after coming off duty.

Investigators interviewed the suspect’s wife, who claimed that she and Ambo were only chatmates and had no other relationship.

The Sebugan couple has two sons, aged 7 and 5.

Police are continuing their search for the suspect.
