BACOLOD CITY – An 18-year-old senior high school student was arrested early Thursday with 100 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP 680,000 during a buy-bust operation in Purok Tahong, Barangay 2.

Operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) apprehended the suspect, known by the alias “Poor,” after three months of monitoring her alleged involvement in illegal drug activities.

Police Capt. Genus David, assistant CDEU chief, said the operation was conducted following reports from the community that were validated by authorities.

David suggested the suspect may have been influenced by drug personalities in her area when she was still a minor.

“The confiscation of large quantities of illegal drugs in recent days could indicate increased demand during the holiday season,” David said.

He added that the yuletide season often brings returning residents and more disposable income, potentially leading to heightened drug activity and larger supplies for suspects.

David assured the public that the CDEU remains vigilant and continues to monitor the drug situation to prevent the entry and distribution of contraband in the city.
