Seven arrested in P850K twin drug ops in Iloilo City

Seven persons were arrested in separate anti-narcotics operations in Iloilo City.

The first operation nabbed brothers Joevany Golveo, 39, Joniel Golveo, 42, and Dave John Golveo, 40, all of Barangay Boulevard, Molo district.

They were collared along with Hazel Paches, 23, also of Barangay Boulevard, and Jersheld Ramos, 24, of Barangay Compania, Molo.

Joevany was the main target of the operation that was mounted at around 9:50 p.m. on Oct. 5 at Zone 2, Barangay Boulevard.

Members of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) 6, together with the Iloilo City Police Station 4, collared the suspects after selling a sachet of suspected shabu for P17,000.

When police scoured the area and frisked the suspects, they yielded 12 more sachets of suspected shabu, cash of P1,000, two mobile phone phones, a sling bag, two disposable lighters, a pair of scissors, a roll of aluminum foil, and several empty plastic sachets. Captain Glenn Soliman, RPDEU-6 team leader, said the seized drugs weighed around 65 grams worth P442,000.

Meanwhile, at 12:43 a.m. on October 6, members of the Iloilo City Police Office – City Drug Enforcement Unit (ICPO-CDEU) and the Iloilo City Police Station 2, Coast Guard Intelligence Group Western Visayas and Maritime Police Station 6, conducted another drug buy-bust at Barangay Mansaya, Lapuz.

Arrested were Jaylord Jinon and Nel Mejica, both are considered high-value individuals.

The duo allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu for P12,000.

Recovered from their possession were 15 more sachets of suspected shabu, two mobile phones, a coin purse, and an empty plastic bag.

Captain Roque Gimeno III, CDEU team leader said the seized drugs weighed around 60 grams and valued at P408,000.

All seven suspects will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
