‘Shabu’, guns seized in Jaro raid

Illegal drugs and guns were seized in a police raid morning of June 25 at Jaro, Iloilo City.

Jefferson Sumaguio, 28, was collared at 8:50 a.m. on Sunday at his home in Barangay Cubay, Jaro district.

Members of the Iloilo City Police Station 3 swooped down on Sumaguio’s house by virtue of a search warrant for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).

Police seized a Smith and Wesson caliber .38 revolver with four pieces of ammunition; a Black Widow caliber .22 revolver with three pieces of ammunition; and two plastic sachets of suspected shabu;

Captain Lester Oliveros, ICPS3 chief, said that they operated on the suspect following numerous gun-poking reports.

Residents also claimed that he was seen frequently brandishing a firearm.

Oliveros said the suspect has been arrested for illegal drugs but was released through a plea bargaining agreement.

The suspect is now detained and will be charged for violation of RA 10591 and RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
