A carpenter-cum-farmer, who also doubled as a shaman, was gunned down evening of October 23 at Leon, Iloilo.
Roque Cabunducan, 61, of Barangay Ticuan, Leon, Iloilo was believed to have instantly died from multiple gunshot injuries.
According to police reports, Cabunducan came from the village plaza, which is around 25 kilometers from the town proper, and was on his way home when the gun attack happened.
Lieutenant Melchor Tolentino, Leon police chief, said the three suspects tailed Cabunducan and shot him at the first chance.
Cabunducan’s assailants immediately fled on a motorcycle towards Leon town proper.
Tolentino said they immediately set up a checkpoint at Barangay Buga in a bid to intercept the suspects but to no avail.
The victim was still taken to Aleosan District Hospital in Alimodian town where he was declared dead on arrival.
Cabunducan succumbed to four gunshot injuries on the left side his face, one on his left shoulder, one on the left portion of his chest, and three on his abdomen.
Police seized four empty shells of caliber .9mm ammunition and two empty shells and an ammunition for caliber .45 pistol.
Tolentino said that the incident could have been related to the suspect’s practice of traditional faith healing.
