ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A local shoe repairman denied involvement in illegal drug use and trade after he and a woman were caught allegedly sniffing shabu inside an abandoned gasoline station in Barangay Cagay on March 21.

The suspect was identified as James Delector, also known as “James,” 37, of Barangay 2, and his companion as Mae Reyes Dequina, alias “Mayang,” 28, of Barangay Hipona, Pontevedra, Capiz.

Barangay Kagawad Limboy Vasquez said he received a report from a concerned citizen about two individuals allegedly using illegal drugs in the abandoned site.

Upon verification, Vasquez said he found the two suspects with drug paraphernalia placed on a table.

With the help of other residents, Vasquez called the police, leading to the arrest of the two.

Delector and Dequina denied the allegations during police interrogation but reportedly appeared to be under the influence of illegal drugs.

Delector has previously drawn public attention due to frequent altercations with women at his shoe repair stall near a Catholic school.

Both suspects are now in the custody of the Roxas City Police Station for proper disposition.
