Silay bags awards in Negrense National Dancesport Competition in Dumaguete

BACOLOD City – The Kansilay dancesport team from Silay City, Negros Occidental took home 10 medals from this year’s Negrense National Dancesport Competition held at the Negros Oriental Convention Center in Dumaguete City on Saturday, November 25.

The team bagged four gold and six bronze medals during the competition which is now in its second year.

Darlene Callas and Khyaen Deocadiz bagged gold in the teacher-student category, while Josephine Fuertes and Philip Lui Deocadiz got bronze and gold medals for the Senior 1A and Special Event 2A categories, respectively.

For the third kind category, Anthony Arbolante and Philip Lui Deocadiz took home bronze medals, while Ayara Savion and John Zion Lopez placed third in the Juvenile C Standard category.

Sixth placers in the Juvenile 1A Latin category were Athena Deocadiz and Lawrence Hermano.

The competition was in line with the 75th Charter Anniversary celebration of Dumaguete City.

Coach Philip Lui Deocadiz said this event enables dancers from all over the Philippines to showcase their talents and skills.

It aims to provide a platform for dancers to express themselves creatively and compete at the highest level, he added.

Deocadiz said the competition also aims to promote the art of dancesport and inspire others to pursue their passion for dance.

By bringing together dancers of different backgrounds and styles, the competition fosters an environment of cultural exchange and appreciation, he added.
