The General Debold Sinas the public used to poke fun at is becoming a new person, physically speaking after he shed off 55 pounds from his body weight.

It was not an overnight transformation, the Philippine National Police (PNP) chief said.

Sinas told reporters that his weight loss journey is part of a six-month program.

“Talagang konsultado ko ‘yun sa mga doctors ko. At talagang sinusunod ko po ang programa ko at 55 pounds ang nawala sa akin,” he said.

And so far, “Ito, very active, di ba?” he told reporters after he spoke at the closing ceremony of the Akap-Kapatid Program of the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC)-6 in Oton, Iloilo.

He said that the PNP joined the global observance of World Obesity Day on March 4.

“‘Yung mga pulis na 300 pounds up ang target ko. Hindi ko na tinarget ang mga fit na kasi kaya na nila to maintain that. ‘Yung mga 300 pounds up talaga ang target ko, meron pang 400. Doon talaga ako nakatutok,” he said.

The PNP also launched the Chubby Anonymous Project in partnership with the Fit Filipino Movement headed by fitness coaches, spouses Jim and Toni Saret.

The Chubby Anonymous Project is a weight loss program for the PNP uniformed personnel categorized as obese. These personnel will be undergoing an intensive weight loss program under the fitness coaches.

Under the program, “thrice a week, pinag-iipon ko at sinuportahan. Kasama ‘yung medical, mental doctors to monitor them, monitored din ‘yung diet at may weight loss medicines na ibibigay sa kanila para matulungan ko sila,” Sinas said.

Sinas said that the services and weight loss pills are free.

To those who volunteered to participate in the program, no sanction would be imposed in case they fail to lose weight.

But under the system, Sinas noted that a police officer cannot be promoted if he or she is obese. They will also be barred from schooling if they fail to reduce their weight.
