One of the most dynamic outside hitters in Philippine women’s volleyball is back.
Sisi Rondina, who last focused on her beach volleyball career after leading the national team in various international stints including the Southeast Asian Games, will be making a return to the indoor scene after agreeing to a deal with the Choco Mucho Flying Titans.
Before agreeing to be a staple member of the national team in beach volleyball, Rondina was one of the core members of the stacked Petron squad during the Philippine Superliga (PSL) tournament.
The former superstar of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) last played in an indoor setting four years ago and will seek to adjust quickly to the Flying Titans system.
Rondina’s addition to the struggling Choco Mucho team will boost its chances once again of entering the PVL playoffs after missing back-to-back trips in the last two conferences.
The high-flying spiker will be teaming up with DLSU product Des Cheng in the attacker role and will be mentored by legendary head coach Dante Alinsunurin once the conference kicks off.
Rondina will also have veteran middle blockers as Choco Mucho will still be retaining the duo of Bea De Leon and Maddie Madayag.
However, the Flying Titans coaching staff is yet to reveal whether they will be starting Rondina over Cheng or if they will attempt to play the two outside hitters together.
Former PHL team setter and Ateneo standout Deanna Wong will be tasked to orchestrate the Choco Mucho attack and guide Rondina with the sets they run in the conference.
On the other hand, Rondina’s partner in beach volleyball, Bernadeth Pons, already signed with the Creamline Cool Smashers and will be going up against her teammate for the very first time in three years.
