Two sisters were arrested for allegedly conspiring to sell illegal drugs on the afternoon of September 27 in Mandurriao, Iloilo City.
Jonalyn Terante, 46, and her younger sister, 26-year-old Rachel Flor, were apprehended at their home in Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao.
Members of Iloilo City Police Station 10 arrested the sisters after they sold a sachet of suspected shabu for PHP 12,000.
Authorities further seized 18 more sachets and two knot-tied plastic packs of suspected shabu, along with non-drug paraphernalia.
Captain Val Cambel, chief of ICPS10, said the seized drugs weighed around 110 grams with a standard drug price of PHP 748,000.
Cambel noted that the sisters’ residence had been the subject of three previous anti-illegal drug operations.
With their arrest, Terante and Flor join their two brothers, who were earlier detained for the same offense.
Cambel added that the sisters seemingly “inherited” their brothers’ illegal drug business after their arrests.
One brother was apprehended earlier this year, while the other was arrested in the Arevalo district on December 8, 2023.
The first brother claimed to be illiterate, while Janjan Flor, 39, another resident of Barangay Bakhaw, was caught with over PHP 4 million worth of illegal drugs at his live-in partner’s house in Barangay Sooc, Arevalo.
The two sisters now face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, just like their brothers.
