BACOLOD CITY – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in northern Negros Occidental has directed six newly-installed sub-station commanders to intensify their presence and deter criminal activities, including the possible crossing of illegal drugs along the shorelines.
Commander Jansen Benjamin, the newly-designated acting commander of PCG-northern Negros Occidental, presided over the turnover ceremony at the headquarters yesterday.
Chief Petty Officer (CPO) Wilmar Dolorfino from Cadiz City sub-station was transferred to Escalante City, replacing CPO Jeffrey Magbanua. CPO James Comeros from Victorias City was moved to Pulupandan town, replacing Petty Officer (PO)1 Richard Calero, who was reassigned to Cadiz City.
PO1 Michael Quebrar from San Carlos City was moved to Victorias City, while PO1 Rene Cabeñera from Bacolod was reassigned to San Carlos City.
PO1 Agustin Marcial was reassigned to Sagay City from Lakawon Island, Cadiz City.
Benjamin stated that the reshuffling was implemented because the predecessors of the newly-installed sub-station commanders had exceeded their six-month tenure. He noted that this is also part of the PCG’s rotation policy.
Additionally, Benjamin directed the commanders to intensify marine environmental protection efforts.
Benjamin was installed in concurrent capacity as the new head of the PCG-northern Negros Occidental last Friday, replacing Commander Paterno Belarmino, who was transferred to the PCG national headquarters. Benjamin is also a commander of the PCG Search and Rescue (SAR) based in Hinoba-an town.
