The ongoing construction of slope protection project along Baje-Ngingian-Bingawan Road at Barangay Alabidhan in Bingawan, Iloilo is seen to ensure the road’s safety and stability, and provide a secure and reliable thoroughfare for motorists and commuters.

Undertaken by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Iloilo 2nd District Engineering Office, the ₱14.1-million project involves the construction of a 126.5 linear meter road slope protection (concrete revetment wall) on steel sheet pile foundation, including the installation of metal guardrails and metal end pieces.

Citing a report from District Engineer Allan Rey R. Pajimna, Regional Director Nerie D. Bueno said the repair and rehabilitation of the slope protection aims to ensure that the road remains accessible and usable, even during rainfall or other natural disasters.

“Due to frequent landslides and erosions caused by heavy rains, this road section has been frequently damaged, posing significant risks to travelers. Once this slope protection project is completed, it will serve as a preventive measure against future accidents and hazards brought by these natural disasters,” said RD Bueno.

“In addition, this project is vital to the people of Bingawan by providing easier access to basic services and facilitating the delivery of goods to the area’s residents, neighboring towns, and barangays,” Director Bueno added.

DPWH is committed to ensuring the safety and convenience of the public by undertaking infrastructure projects that provide long-term benefits to the community. (DPWH-6)
