Topline Hi Tech has partnered with the Provincial Government of Aklan to implement a Smart Port System at Caticlan and Cagban ports, aiming to enhance security, streamline ticketing, and improve travel efficiency.

The agreement was signed on Feb. 18, 2025, at the Aklan Provincial Capitol. The system will use QR codes to provide real-time data and analytics, enabling better port management through a Unified Automated Ticketing System that consolidates terminal, environmental, and boat fees into a single transaction.

“This is a transformative partnership with the Province of Aklan, spearheaded by Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco and Governor Jose Miraflores. Our Smart Port System makes accessing Boracay easier by removing the traditional hassle of travel, allowing visitors to focus on enjoying the island,” said Eugene Erik Lim, president and CEO of Topline Hi Tech and Synergy Corp.

Currently, tourists must queue multiple times to register and pay boat fare, administrative, environmental, and terminal fees. The Unified Automated Ticketing System eliminates these separate steps by allowing travelers to book and pay in advance through the Topline Travel App, a pre-booking link, or on-site via an automated kiosk or ticketing booth. All options support cashless transactions. After payment, a QR code is generated for verification at the pre-boarding area.

“Topline’s Smart Port System in Boracay is a game-changer, streamlining operations and enhancing the overall tourism experience. By embracing innovation, we ensure a smoother, more efficient journey for foreign and domestic visitors while fostering sustainable growth in the island’s tourism industry,” Miraflores said.

“With this smart upgrade, we aim to drive tourism growth in the Visayas and ensure that Boracay remains a premier destination. At Topline Group, we don’t just ride the region’s growth momentum—we strive to be a catalyst for it,” Lim added.

The first phase of the Smart Port System will be implemented in April 2025, in time for the summer tourist season.
