BACOLOD City – The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) ratified on Wednesday the deed of absolute sale for the city government’s acquisition of a P268-million lot in Barangay Granada here.
Atty. Karol Joseph Chiu, secretary to the Mayor, said that the acquired lot from Del Rio Realty and Development of Bacolod, Inc. will be used as a new relocation site in the city.
Chiu said the acquired lot has a total area of 179,087 square meters or about 17 hectares, amounting to P268,630,500. It is situated adjacent to the existing relocation site in Barangay Vista Alegre, he added.
Chiu said that based on the agreement, the city has to pay 85 percent of the total amount, which will be sourced from the city’s loan with the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP).
With this acquisition, Chiu said that the city will have another asset to be developed as a housing program.
Chiu said the City Engineer’s Office (CEO) has inspected the area which is suitable for the housing project.
“Lapad man so damo pa mabuligan ta,” he added.
He said that the seller has an obligation to pay the taxes and process the transfer of title to the city, based on the agreement.
He said that Mayor Alfredo “Albee” Benitez wanted to ensure that city-acquired properties should be transferred to the city government.
He added that the mayor has observed that there were many properties previously acquired by the city that were not transferred yet.
“Gusto niya (mayor) ma ensure na ma transfer gid dayon para wala na problema later on,” he added.
Residents of Barangay 12 affected by the Manokan Country development will be among the first beneficiaries of the new relocation site.
