Spirit of voluntarism: WVSU Sports Director spearheads charity ride for sakayanons

West Visayas State University Sports Director Dr. Richard Gabayoyo spearheaded a charity ride for the affected sakayanons following the wooden-hulled boats’ phase-out in the province of Guimaras.

With his main goal of giving back to the affected sakayanons, Dr. Gabayoyo and his organizing committee were able to unite more than 400 riders who trailed all over Guimaras.

A total of 192 food packs were given to the Jordan sakayanons plus PHP5,000 cash for the Jordan Sailors Association while the Buenavista sakayanons received 172 food packs and PHP5,000 cash for the Buenavista Sailors Association.

“I am a proud Guimarasnon nga gusto mag encourage sa mga pumuluyo kag everyone to advocate social responsibility. We have to keep the spirit of voluntarism alive,” said Dr. Gabayoyo in an exclusive interview with the Daily Guardian.

Those who participated during the charity ride were the Governor’s office, Provincial Planning and Development Office, Mio Nation Guimaras Chapter, Ride for Education Club, 52nd Philippine Air Force Reserve Group, Aya Cycle Parts Supply, Guimaras Xtreme Riders, Thailand Domestic Market Elites Zone Guimaras, Honda Click Game Changer PH, Newtrals Solid Riders Association Inc.
