The final ‘Woj Bomb’ has been dropped.
After 37 years in the news industry, renowned ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski officially called it a career and announced his retirement on September 18, 2024.
Wojnarowski quickly rose in the ranks of sports journalism after taking over the NBA world with his famous ‘Woj Bomb’ news that revolved around player trades, contract signings, and coaching staff changes.
He will drop his pen as a senior NBA insider for ESPN and Yahoo Sports and was a former sports columnist when he began his career way back 1997.
According to multiple reports, Wojnarowski’s next stop will be at his alma mater in St. Bonaventure University where he will serve as the general manager of the school’s men’s basketball program.
After spending the past 37 years focusing on player movement and draft stock, Wojnarowski will now shift his expertise on how to run a team in the collegiate ranks.
His duties as a general manager will include the scouting of players, recruitment system, and navigating the student’s transfer tracker which will help boost his squad.
“It is a thrill of a lifetime to be able to return to a university and community that I love in a role of service to our student-athletes, coaches and institution,” Wojnarowski said in an interview with ESPN.
For the past years, Wojnarowski was already active in his alma mater, putting up fundraiser events for the program while also lending his help to other sports matters.
“I leave with overwhelming gratitude for countless mentors and colleagues, subject and stories, readers and viewers. No one has benefited more than me from the belief, trust and generosity of others,” posted Wojnarowski on his official X account.
